As I look around the rapid growth of our favorite sport I'm struck by the fact that in Boca Raton, my hometown, there is ONE glaring hole . . . why is Olympic Heights not fielding a team? Two years ago they announced a Boys' team led by Chris Andrea: Remember this? /breaking-news-olympic-heights-in-boca-to-add-lacrosse/     Pretty sweet helmet design, right? Equipment was donated and money raised. What happened to that equipment and money?  Seems like an accounting needs to occur and quickly.   So, I ask the question of ALL Olympic Heights students and parents . . . Are students interested in playing the sport or not?  The FASTEST growing sport in America is offered all over Boca Raton . . . bu

In this part FLN went through the final MaxPreps rankings to populate a field of 64, split into 4 quadrants of 16 teams each.  All district champions were included and we went straight down the final rankings to figure the next 8 teams in each current quadrant. Remember that some teams might have fallen through the cracks if they did not post 15 game results.  A second place finish did not guarantee a bid and in some cases one district got three teams into the field.  I seeded the teams 1-16 based on their final rankings.  A link to the first page of the rankings are here: http://www.maxpreps.com/rankings/lacrosse-spring-18/1/state/florida.htm Again, I have some real issues with some of these rankings so don't shoot the messenger!  There is a lot of good in this approach

Over the past few months I've been asked over and over about the possibility of lacrosse going to a classification system similar to many other sports in the state of Florida.  We have nearly 200 Boys and 200 Girls high school programs in this state and seriously about 8 schools that could win the Boy's title last season.  Many programs are frustrated at not being able to be competitive enough and some would welcome a second classification to open up the possibility of a second state title to play for.  Some of that debate has broken down among Public vs Private high schools, Small vs Large and any sort of approach. The first thought that was put forward was along this: A preliminary proposal, as noted in the Presentation Packet passed out for the September 5th presentation
